The JD Edwards support timeline, and what Oracle's dates mean in 2026
EnterpriseOne 9.2 is supported through at least 2037. World is already past Extended Support. Here is what Oracle's policy says, release by release, and what it leaves out.

Contents
Searches for "JD Edwards end of life" usually start from a rumour that Oracle is retiring the product. For most customers the dates say otherwise. For some, they say the deadline has already passed.
Two product lines, two very different positions
JD Edwards is two product lines. EnterpriseOne is the current one, and its 9.2 release has been on a Continuous Innovation model, in which Oracle delivers new functionality as updates instead of new releases1. World is the older line, which Oracle last released as A9.4. Oracle's EnterpriseOne page describes migrating to EnterpriseOne 9.2 as a strategic choice for World customers2.
The support policy treats them very differently. The table below takes Oracle's dates as published in its Lifetime Support Policy for applications, effective August 7, 20261.
| Release | Generally available | Premier Support | Extended Support | Sustaining Support |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| EnterpriseOne 9.2 (Update 26) | Oct 2025 | Through at least Dec 2037 | Not applicable | Indefinite |
| EnterpriseOne 9.1 | Mar 2012 | Ended Mar 2017 | Ended Mar 2020 | Indefinite |
| EnterpriseOne 9.0.2 | Nov 2010 | Ended Nov 2015 | Ended Nov 2018 | Indefinite |
| World A9.4 (all 9.4 releases) | – | Ended Apr 2022 | Ended Apr 2025 | Indefinite |
| World A9.3 | Mar 2012 | Ended Mar 2017 | Ended Mar 2020 | Indefinite |
What each stage of support includes
Oracle's policy defines three stages1.
- Premier Support normally runs five years from general availability. It includes technical support, updates, fixes, security alerts, data fixes and critical patch updates, tax, legal and regulatory updates, upgrade scripts, and certification with most new third-party and Oracle products.
- Extended Support adds three years for specific releases, for an additional fee, with largely the same content. It may not include certification with some new third-party products.
- Sustaining Support lasts for as long as the software is licensed. It provides technical support and access to fixes created earlier, but no new updates, fixes, security alerts or critical patch updates, no new tax, legal and regulatory updates, no new upgrade scripts and no certification with new third-party or Oracle products.
The practical consequence for World A9.4 is plain. Since April 2025, a World customer on Oracle support receives no new security fixes and no new tax, legal or regulatory updates, so each statutory change from then on has to be handled by the customer or another support provider1.
What "through at least 2037" means
Oracle's wording for EnterpriseOne 9.2 is careful. Premier Support runs through the "at least" date, Oracle may extend it in one-year increments at its discretion, and Oracle says it has no plans to end Premier Support for the release. It also reserves the right not to extend if continuing becomes impracticable, in which case the existing date becomes the end date1.
Some components carry their own dates. Oracle's exceptions table lists User Productivity Kit content (Premier Support ended December 2022), the In-Memory planning and portfolio products (September 2023), Environmental Accounting and Reporting (August 2026) and the Application Management Suite for EnterpriseOne (August 2026)1. A customer that depends on any of them has an earlier date to plan around than the headline one.
The dates that matter
- EnterpriseOne 9.2: Premier Support through at least December 2037.
- EnterpriseOne Tools: each release expires six months after the next is generally available.
- World A9.4: Extended Support ended April 2025; Sustaining Support only.
- EnterpriseOne 9.1 and earlier: Sustaining Support only.
The obligation that does not show in the table
Staying on 9.2 is not the same as standing still. Oracle states that each EnterpriseOne Tools release or update expires six months after a new one becomes generally available1, and that as of Tools release 9.2.6 EnterpriseOne runs only as a 64-bit system3. Oracle's own upgrade page warns that "time-locking" a system by not applying upgrades and patches carries business risk3. The cost of staying is therefore a steady programme of tools updates and retesting, not a one-off project.
Plan by release
- Confirm exactly what you run. Application release, Tools release, and any products in Oracle's exceptions table.
- If you are on World or EnterpriseOne 9.1 or earlier, treat the move as current work. The choice is between EnterpriseOne 9.2 and a different ERP; our upgrade or replace guide compares them.
- If you are on EnterpriseOne 9.2, budget for the six-month tools rhythm and decide how much of your change agenda can run beside the ERP rather than inside it.
- Put the dates in the board paper. A single page with the release, the support stage and the next date that matters turns a vague worry into a scheduled decision.
The end state is a team that knows its date, has a funded plan to stay current or to move, and is no longer reacting to rumours about JD Edwards' future. For the options themselves, see the ranked alternatives.
Questions buyers ask
When does support for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne end?
Oracle's Lifetime Support Policy, effective August 7, 2026, gives EnterpriseOne 9.2 Premier Support through at least December 2037. Oracle may extend the date in one-year increments, and says it has no current plans to end Premier Support for the release, though it reserves the right not to extend.
Is JD Edwards World still supported?
Only through Sustaining Support. World A9.4 left Premier Support in April 2022 and Extended Support in April 2025. Sustaining Support continues for as long as the software is licensed, but it brings no new fixes, security alerts or tax, legal and regulatory updates.
What happens to JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 9.1?
EnterpriseOne 9.1 left Premier Support in March 2017 and Extended Support in March 2020. Customers still on 9.1 receive Sustaining Support only, and Oracle's upgrade path is to 9.2.
Do we need to upgrade EnterpriseOne 9.2 to get new features?
No. Oracle says EnterpriseOne follows a Continuous Innovation model in which new functionality is delivered as updates to the existing release, so upgrades are not required to gain new features. The technical tools layer still has to be kept current, because each Tools release expires six months after the next one is generally available.
