IFS positions IFS Cloud ERP for complex industrial operations in asset-intensive and mission-critical sectors, combining operations, finance, people, assets and customers on one composable platform with embedded Industrial AI1.

Best for: Asset-intensive and project-driven JD Edwards customers, where maintenance, field service and finance need to sit in one system.

Not the right fit for: Simple distribution or single-entity companies that need a lighter, faster ERP.

What IFS Cloud does

The ERP covers shop-floor control, supply chain, procurement and financial management, and IFS describes it as spanning operations, finance, people, assets and customers on one platform1. IFS also sells enterprise asset management and field service management products2. That matters to JD Edwards customers who use its asset lifecycle and service modules, because the replacement can keep those functions with one vendor.

IFS publishes a twice-yearly release cadence. Its 26R1 release added an emissions management solution for Scope 1, 2 and 3 reporting and zone-based warehouse picking with wave release3. Around the software, IFS sells success plans, managed cloud services, consulting and support1.

Published evidence

  • Rolls-Royce Power Systems (selection). IFS announced in October 2024 that Rolls-Royce’s Power Systems division, with more than 10,000 employees, chose IFS Cloud to run its global service operations. No results are reported yet.4

Strengths and limits

Strengths

  • Shop-floor, supply chain, procurement and finance functions on one platform, with asset management and field service products from the same vendor.
  • A predictable twice-yearly release cadence, stated by IFS.
  • A named industrial customer: Rolls-Royce Power Systems chose IFS Cloud for its global service operations in 2024.

Limits

  • Pricing is not published.
  • The Rolls-Royce announcement describes a selection, not measured results.
  • Positioned for complex, mission-critical operations; a smaller distributor may pay for depth it does not use.

Choose another option if: Your JD Edwards footprint is mostly distribution and finance with little asset or service work.

Questions to ask IFS

  • Which customers have moved from JD Edwards to IFS Cloud, and what did they keep from their old asset data?
  • How does the twice-yearly release reach our environment, and how long do we have to test it?
  • Which industrial AI functions are generally available today, and which need extra licences?
  • What does a first phase for one business unit look like?

The side-by-side comparison shows IFS Cloud against the rest of the field.
